How long is the lease term?

All of our leases are month to month for your convenience.

Is there a deposit?

No.  We charge on a month to month basis.

What do I need to rent a space?

We require a Federal or State issued photo ID.

Do I need to sign a long term lease?

No, we rent on a month-to-month basis unless the customer requests otherwise.

How do I make a payment?

We offer several payment options for your convenience.  

  • You may pay in person at our main office, located at 1634 S. Lafayette St in Shelby, NC.  Office hours are 8:30 to 4:30 Monday through Friday.  We have a drop box, located outside the office, for after hours payments. 
  • Auto Pay- set up auto pay with a debit or credit card to avoid late and over lock fees
  • Pay online through our website by clicking on the Payment button located at the top of the page.

What forms of payments do you accept?

Checks, Cash, Money Orders, VISA, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.


Is there an additional charge for paying online?

No.  This service is free of charge.

When are my payments due?

Payments are due by the 1st of every month unless otherwise stipulated by your lease.  After the 10th of each month a 15% late fee will be added to your account as well as a $9 overlock charge.

Do we bring our own lock or do you provide it?

We recommend purchasing a high quality disc lock at our main office.  We also sell a variety of moving, packing and storage supplies.  Check out our Moving Supply page for details.

Are there any items that I should not bring to storage?

Store nothing toxic, flammable, liquid, or otherwise hazardous.   Also, please store nothing from your kitchen including spices, pet food, bird or deer feed.   These items attract problems.

Do you have dollies for us to use?

Yes.  We have complimentary dollies and flatbed carts for our customers.

Does Uptown Mini Storage have temperature controlled storage units?

Yes.  We offer a variety of sizes in  Climate Controlled units.


How do I access the property?

You will have access to the property from 7 AM to 11 PM every day using an individually generated gate code at time of your lease

How do I move out?

Your lease stipulates that a tenant who has vacated their unit by the 5th of the month will not be charged for that month's rent as long as the tenant has removed their lock from the unit and all belongings including trash and boxes.  Failure to remove lock and items may result in additional charges.
